Characteristics

Plants up to 300 mm tall; basal leaf broadly cordate or orbicular with a cordate base, 10-36 x 8-24 mm. Inflorescences with the bracts spatha-ceous, oblong, subacute, pubescent, about 6 mm long. Flowers with pale lilac-blue petals and lip, white terminal clavae and green sepals. Sepals linear-lanceolate, acuminate, puberulous, 10-20 mm long. Petals linear-lanceolate, attenuate, obtuse, 8-20 mm long. Lip spreading, fan-shaped, up to 40 x 35 mm, with 4-6 lobes divided into many filiform segments with white terminal clavae; spur narrowly conical, acuminate, 8-14 mm long. Anther clavate, about 8 mm long; rostellum c. 2 mm tall.

Inflorescence normally 1-flowered. Sepals subequal, free, erect, pale green; dorsal sepal 10-13 mm long. Petals white and purple, 8-16 mm long. Lip spurred, up to 32 mm long, conspicuously fimbriate, many linear lobes, apices with white, terminal knob, same colour as petals; spur 6-9 mm long. Flowering time Oct.-Dec.
