Characteristics

Leaves simple, alternate, overlapping on the main branches, thinly fleshy, glaucous, those of the prostrate shoots suborbicular, 0·7–2·5 cm. in diameter, cordate at the base, those of the erect ones ovate to oblong-lanceolate, 0·75–2 cm. long, acute at the apex, margin entire or with a few minute teeth at the base; petiole 0·5–2 mm. long.

Perennial glabrous herb, erect, prostrate or with both prostrate and erect shoots, the prostrate shoots up to 50 cm., the erect ones up to c. 15 cm., arising from a woody rootstock.
Cymes 1–2-flowered, the flowers small, whitish with stipe 6–10 mm. long; peduncle up to 1 cm. long; bracteoles c. 1·5 mm. long.
Stamens 5, with filaments 2–2·25 mm. long and anthers 0·5–0·75 mm. long.
Outer corona blue, with the tube 1–1·5 mm. high and threads 1(1·5) mm.
Ovary c. 1 mm. long; styles 3–4, free, 1·5–2·5 mm. long.
Sepals 5(6), (3)4–5 mm. long, subobtuse at the apex.
Capsule c. 1 cm. long, with thin pericarp, 1-seeded.

Inner corona c. 1 mm. high, cup-shaped.
Hypanthium c. 1·5 mm. broad.
