Leaf-lamina 1·5–8 × 1–7·5 cm., sagittate, 3-lobed, the lobes up to 5·5 × 3 cm., suborbicular, ovate or oblong, the middle one the largest, acute at the apex, margin serrate-dentate; petiole 0·1–4 cm. long.
Creeping or climbing perennial herb, up to 0.7(-2.5) m high. False stipules large, foliaceous. Leaves 3-lobed. Sepals 5.0-7.5 mm, not keeled. Petals present. Flowers yellow to greenish yellow.
Perennial glabrous herb with several creeping or climbing shoots, usually up to 70 cm. long, sometimes up to 250 cm., simple or branched, arising from a woody rootstock.
Cymes 1–2-flowered; peduncle 1–6 cm. long, ending in a tendril or a mucro-like appendage; bracts 2–3 mm. long.
Ovary 1–1·5 mm. long; styles (1)2·5–4 mm. long, free or connate at the base.
Outer corona with a tube 1·75–2 mm. high and threads 0·5–1·25 mm.
False stipules 0·5–3·5 × 0·2–1 cm., 2-lobed, serrate-mucronate.
Inner corona 1·25–1·75 mm. high, cup-shaped.
Flowers glabrous with stipe 4–7 mm. long.
Sepals 5–7·5 mm. long, greenish-yellow.
Capsule 1·25–1·5 cm. long, 2–3-seeded.
Axillary tendrils up to 10 cm. long.
Petals 4–6·5 mm. long, concolorous.
Hypanthium 2·5–3 mm. broad.
Stipules 3–8 mm. long.
Seeds c. 7 mm. long.
