Flowers solitary, often produced while the young foliage is emerging.. Pedicels 5–8 (–20) mm. long.. Flower-buds: upper part (i.e. sepals) lanceolate to ovate in outline, 0.8–1.3 cm. long before anthesis, pubescent outside.. Petals white, fading to pink, oblanceolate to narrowly obovate, 1.3–2.4 cm. long, 0.5–1 cm. wide, cuneate below but not clawed.. Fertile stamens 10..
