Characteristics

Shrubs 1–2 (–3) m high. Leaves very shortly petiolate; lamina linear to oblong or narrowly oblong, (6–) 10–90 mm long, to 3 mm wide; upper leaf surface glabrous, glossy, with midrib impressed and other veins obscure. Inflorescence of a single capitulum in each of several upper leaf axils (very rarely with 3–5 in lower axils; upper axils always bearing only a single capitulum). Florets 9–17 per capitulum, cream to yellow. Achenes 2.5–3.3 mm long, 0.7–1 mm diam., usually deep purplish black, with 10–14 vertical ribs.
