Characteristics

Spreading or erect annual to 30 cm high. Indumentum of glandular hairs or rarely lacking; hairs c. 0.25 mm long, the hairs mostly lacking a globular terminal head, dull, opaque. Leaves elliptic to narrow-elliptic, rarely ovate or obovate, 10–35 mm long, 3–11 mm wide, acute, glandular hairy on midvein and at base, margin serrate, errulate or fimbriate, midvein prominent. Stipules 2.5–3 mm long, c. 0.3 mm wide at base. Flowers single or paired; pedicel slender, 8–40 mm long. Bracteoles at base of pedicels, narrow-triangular, 1 mm long, c.  0.1 mm wide. Sepals 5, ovate, 2–3.5 mm long, 1–1.5 mm wide, acuminate, green or pink, glandular-pubescent, rarely glabrous, margin entire to fimbriate, keel absent or rarely slightly developed. Petals 5, shorter or equalling sepals, elliptic, c. 3 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, acute, erect at anthesis. Stamens 10, ± equal, 1.5–2 mm long; filament base slightly expanded to c. 0.2 mm. Capsule globular, 2.5–3.5 mm diam., 5-locular; stigmas ± sessile. Seeds ellipsoid or slightly curved, 0.25–0.3 mm long, 0.1–0.15 mm wide, light brown, smooth, shiny.
