Characteristics

Tree 8–18 m. high, with glabrous branchlets.. Leaflets in 2–4 pairs, ovate, elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate, 4.5–16.5 cm. long, 2.5–7 cm. wide, glabrous or nearly so, obtuse or obtusely subacuminate at apex.. Racemes 3–11 cm. long, ± aggregated into terminal panicles.. Pedicels 1.5–3 cm. long, tomentellous, as are the obovate 2–3 cm. long and 1–1.4 cm. wide bracteoles; the latter tomentellous inside also.. Hypanthium 0.8–1.2 cm. long, glabrous or nearly so outside.. Upper petal 3.5–4.5 cm. long, with a lamina 2–2.5 cm. long and 2.5–3.8 cm. wide which is white flushed with green in the central part; other petals 1–1.7 cm. long, with linear laminae 7–13 mm. long and 1–1.5 mm. wide..
