Characteristics

Shrub to 2 m high; young branchlets with a golden-yellow indumentum of stellate hairs, glabrescent. Leaves alternate, narrowly elliptic to elliptic, narrowly obovate or oblong-elliptic, (13–) 19–54 mm long, (4–) 9–17 mm wide; base obtuse to cuneate; margin slightly recurved, sometimes finely sinuate; apex obtuse to rounded; adaxial surface sparsely hairy with stipitate stellate hairs c. 0.5 mm across, otherwise smooth. Inflorescences on peduncles 8–18 mm long. Male flowers: androecium 5.3–7.4 mm long; stamens 55–95. Female flowers on pedicels 0.5–2.5 mm long; calyx lobes narrowly triangular, 2.2–3 mm long, glabrous or with a moderately dense indumentum abaxially, with margins entire; ovary with a moderately dense indumentum of stellate hairs. Fruit narrowly ovoid or ovoid-ellipsoid, 9–9.5 mm long, with a sparse to moderately dense indumentum of stellate hairs; 1-seeded; persistent calyx lobes half the fruit length or shorter.
