Characteristics

Shrub to 2 m high, viscid; young branchlets glabrous, smooth or tuberculate. Leaves alternate, lorate or narrowly oblong, 6–10 mm long, 0.9–1.4 mm wide; base cuneate; margin tightly recurved to midrib concealing abaxial leaf surface; apex obtuse or rounded, sometimes apiculate; adaxial surface glabrous, ±smooth. Inflorescences on peduncles 0.5–2 mm long. Male flowers: androecium 2.7–3.5 mm long; stamens 15–50. Female flowers sessile; calyx lobes ovate to broadly ovate, 1.5–3.5 mm long, glabrous abaxially, with margins fimbriate; ovary glabrous. Fruit ovoid, 6–7 mm long, glabrous, 1–3-seeded; persistent calyx lobes half the fruit length or less.
