Characteristics

Shrub to 2 m high, viscid on flower buds and young shoot tips; young branchlets with a golden-yellow indumentum of stellate hairs. Leaves alternate, narrowly oblong, narrowly obovate or lorate, 20–46 mm long, 4–9 mm wide; base cuneate to attenuate; margin recurved; apex obtuse, rounded or truncate, usually ultimately apiculate; adaxial surface glabrous, smooth. Inflorescences on peduncles 3–6 mm long. Male flowers: androecium c. 4 mm long; stamens 35–45. Female flowers sessile; calyx lobes narrowly ovate or narrowly triangular, 4.2–4.6 mm long, glabrous abaxially, with margins entire; ovary with a moderately dense indumentum of stellate hairs distally. Fruit narrowly ovoid or ellipsoid, 7.5–9.3 mm long, glabrous or with scattered stellate hairs distally, 1-seeded; persistent calyx lobes half the fruit length or less.
