Characteristics

Shrub to 1 m high, viscid on young shoots and flower buds; young branchlets glabrous or rarely sparsely stellate-pubescent on young shoots, glabrescent, tuberculate. Leaves alternate, linear, 20–45 mm long, 1.3–3 mm wide; base cuneate; margin recurved or revolute to midrib concealing abaxial surface; apex straight, subacute, apiculate; adaxial surface sparsely stellate-pubescent when young, glabrescent, tuberculate. Inflorescences on peduncles 0.3–1.5 mm long. Male flowers: androecium 3.2–5.5 mm long; stamens 40–50. Female flowers sessile; calyx lobes elliptic or oblong-elliptic, 3–5 mm long, glabrous abaxially, with margins fimbriate; ovary glabrous or with scattered stellate hairs distally. Fruit ovoid, 8.1–9 mm long, glabrous or with scattered stellate hairs, 1-seeded; persistent calyx lobes usually longer than fruit.
