Characteristics

Shrub to 2 m high, viscid on buds, flowers and sometimes on young leaves; young branchlets densely stellate-pubescent. Leaves alternate or subopposite, lorate to linear, 7–25 mm long, 0.8–1.6 mm wide; base obtuse to cuneate; margin recurved to midrib concealing abaxial surface; apex straight or slightly recurved, rounded to truncate, or retuse; adaxial surface glabrous with a few scattered stellate hairs, glabrescent, smooth or sparsely punctate. Inflorescences on peduncles 0.9–2.5 mm long. Male flowers: androecium 2.8–3.5 mm long; stamens 15–25. Female flowers sessile; calyx lobes ovate to oblong-ovate, 2.1–3.5 mm long, glabrous abaxially, with margins entire; ovary stellate-pubescent. Fruit ovoid to ovoid-ellipsoid, 4.5–6.2 mm long, ±glabrous or sparsely stellate-pubescent, 1-seeded; persistent calyx lobes half the fruit length or less.
