Characteristics

Shrub to 4 m high; young branchlets densely stellate-pubescent, glabrescent, tuberculate. Leaves alternate, narrowly ovate to ovate, 8–22 mm long, 3–10 mm wide; base obtuse to slightly cordate; margin recurved or flat; apex straight, obtuse to acute; adaxial surface sparsely hairy with stipitate stellate hairs 0.3–1.0 mm across, glabrescent, tuberculate. Inflorescences on peduncles 0.5–0.7 mm long. Male flowers: androecium 3–4 mm long; stamens 45–55. Female flowers sessile; calyx lobes ovate to oblong-ovate, 1–2.7 mm long, glabrous abaxially, with margins mostly fimbriate; ovary sparsely to densely stellate-pubescent. Fruit narrowly ellipsoid or narrowly ovoid, 4–8 mm long, sparsely stellate-pubescent, 1-seeded; persistent calyx lobes half the fruit length or less.
