Characteristics

Erect much-branched shrub to 0.6 m high, resinous on most parts. Young branchlets ±angular, longitudinally ridged, densely hairy between resinous ridges; hairs stellate. Leaves oblong or narrowly elliptic, 10–20 mm long, 2–5 mm wide; apex rounded or sometimes retuse; abaxial surface densely hairy with ± sessile, stellate hairs up to 0.5 mm across. Flowers axillary or terminal on short axillary branchlets, solitary or rarely 2 per axil, pedicellate; pedicels 8–18 mm long (♂, ♀), sparsely hairy proximally with minute erect glandular hairs c. 0.1 mm long (mostly obscured by resinous covering). Male flowers: receptacle 2–2.5 mm across, stellate hairy; stamens 30–60. Female flowers: calyx lobes suborbicular, 1.5–1.8 mm long, prominently keeled abaxially; ovary densely hairy proximally, 3-locular; stigma ± discoid, 3-lobulate. Fruit subglobose, 4–6 mm long, hairy proximally, papillose distally (obscured by resinous covering); persistent calyx lobes c. half of fruit length.
