Characteristics

Slender shrub or small tree to 6 m high, resinous on young shoots, buds and adaxial leaf surface. Young branchlets angular, glabrous. Leaves lanceolate, 58–120 mm long, 6–16 mm wide; apex acute; abaxial surface glabrous, smooth. Flowers pedicellate; males axillary, solitary or in shortly pedunculate clusters of up to 4 flowers; females axillary or terminal on short axillary branchlets, solitary; pedicels 7–9 mm long (♂), 6–10 mm long (♀), glabrous. Male flowers: receptacle c. 2.5 mm across, glabrous; stamens c. 40. Female flowers: calyx lobes triangular to ovate, 2.5–3.5 mm long; ovary glabrous, thickly resinous, 3-locular; stigma calyptriform. Fruit subglobose, 10–12 mm long, glabrous; persistent calyx lobes c. one third of fruit length.
