Characteristics

Much-branched shrub to 0.6 m high, resinous on most parts. Young branchlets angular, puberulous between resinous longitudinal ridges, indumentum sometimes obscured by resin. Leaves linear or very narrowly obovate, 4–10 mm long, 0.8–1.6 mm wide; apex obtuse to rounded, ultimately with slender, apiculum up to 0.4 mm long; abaxial surface densely hairy with ± sessile, white stellate hairs c. 0.1 mm across. Flowers axillary, pedicellate, solitary; pedicels 1.5–3 mm long (♂), up to 1 mm long (♀), stellate pubescent. Male flowers: receptacle c. 0.4 mm across, glabrous; stamens 15–25. Female flowers: calyx lobes ovate, 1.6–2.1 mm long; ovary sparsely to densely stellate puberulous (usually obscured by resinous covering), 2-locular; stigma bipartite; lobes oblong, c. 1 mm long, appressed to ovary. Fruit ellipsoid, c. 3 mm long, sparsely hairy distally; persistent calyx lobes c. half of fruit length.

Environment

Grows in Eucalyptus cneorifolia and Melaleuca uncinata heathland and mallee on clay on a laterite substrate and in Casuarina shrubland and mallee on white sand with ironstone over clay intruded with limestone.
