Perennial herb or shrub 0.4–1.2 m high; stems erect or leaning on other vegetation, branched near apex, thin and brittle, glabrous.. Leaves obovoid in outline, pedately tripartite, 2–5 cm long, 1.5–4 cm wide, the segments lobed or serrate, 2–7(–12) mm wide, apex acute to apiculate, hispid especially on midrib and margins, black-punctulate; petiole absent or up to 5 mm long.. Capitula terminal and solitary or few in lax cymes; peduncle 2–9 cm long; involucre 8–10 mm long; outer phyllaries 6–11, pilose, inner phyllaries ± 8, green with yellow margins, sparsely pilose; paleae light brown with purple apex, 6–7 mm long.. Ray florets yellow or golden yellow, neuter, 8–13, rays 8–13x3–5 mm; disc florets yellow, ± 5 mm long.. Achenes black, oblong-ellipsoid, 4–6 mm long, glabrous; pappus absent.
