Leaves ovate in outline, pinnately or sub-bipinnately compound, 1.5–8 cm long, 1–5.5 cm wide, segments ± linear and 1–3.5 mm wide, acute, glabrous or pilose, aromatic-glandular; pseudopetiole to 13 mm long.. Capitula few in lax terminal cymes; stalks of individual capitula to 15 cm long; involucre 3–5 mm long; outer phyllaries 5–8, widened and hairy at apex, green with dark red centre, inner phyllaries 6–8, oblong, orange-brown with scarious margins; paleae orange-brown, 4–4.5 mm long.. Ray florets bright yellow, neuter, 8, rays 10–12 mm long; disc florets orange-yellow, 3.5–4 mm long.. Achenes dark brown or black, compressed, graded monomorphic, setose, 3–4 mm long (outer) or 7–10 mm long (inner); aristae 2, 1–2 mm long, retrorsely barbed near the apex.
