Woody climber, very tardily scandent, with numerous short, lateral branches, glabrous. Adult stage leaves petiolate, stem-clasping, funnelled, lamina linear to oblong, 25–28 mm long, 2–5 mm wide, margin upturned, upper surface glossy mid-green, lower paler with numerous pellucid dots. Inflorescences sessile, leafy, bracteose panicles with numerous bisexual rotate flowers with petals spreading widely. Sepals 3–4 mm long, green yellow at anthesis, acuminate, sparsely hairy. Petals c. 10–12 mm long, briefly cohering in throat, then broad spathulate, apically recurving at least half length. Colour changes: pale mauve in bud, opening palest mauve-pink, darkening with age, deep mauve pink blotches spreading from throat at sex phase change; recurving by nearly one half to expose stamens and pistil. Stamens free; filaments becoming pink mauve; anthers minute, white; pollen taupe/pink. Fruits bilocular, berry-like, pithy, with seeds in separate dry compartments; to 5.5 mm long, 5 mm diam., slightly ovate. Seeds few, to about 1 mm long, red brown.
