Habit: spreading, woody shrubs, eventually scandent; densely silky, silver-grey hairy. Leaves: adult leaves sessile, mainly narrow-elliptic, 27–48 mm long, 6–10 mm wide, densely silver-grey hairy, adaxial surface glabrescent; margins recurved; apices with prominent mucro. Inflorescences: solitary or paired, bisexual flowers; stalks 7–12 mm, nodding, very hairy. Sepals 5–10 mm, narrow triangular, very hairy. Petals 15–18 mm long, clawed, only briefly connivent, canary yellow with purple venation becoming prominent in throat with age; margins and apices hairy. Stamens free with filaments longer than anthers, tapering to a wider base; anthers ovid, white, pollen yellow. Pistil with vestigial nectary; ovary dense silky hairy; style thick, short (1 mm); stigma capitate. Fruits are true berries with the seeds embedded in the pulpy mesocarp, 16–20 mm long, oblong, silver-grey hairy, eventually tawny brown. Seeds numerous, discoidal, red-brown, muricate. Flowering August to December.
