Characteristics

Habit: slender twiner; new shoots glabrescent.Leaves almost sessile, narrow-elliptic, 11–19 mm long, 2 mm wide, mucronate; margins revolute; clustering but becoming alternate on twining stems. Inflorescences sessile, compound, corymbose; bracteose (8–9 mm). Sepals to 3–4 mm long, unequal, both surfaces pilose, green; petals 9–11 mm long, not clawed, spathulate, free, mauve?, fading with age. Stamens free, filaments eventually 4–5.5 mm  long after anthesis; anthers  2.2–2.5 mm, initially about as long as the filaments, unequal, sagittate, white edged mauve, distinctively recurving (curling) basally and apically, versatile; pollen yellow;. Pistil without visible nectary, ridged, silky hairy; ovary 4–4.5 mm long, incompletely bilocular; style 0.5 mm long, purple; stigma knobby.  Fruit not seen, probably green and inconspicuous. Flowering in February.
