Characteristics

Habit: shrubby climbers; short shoots present, grey pilose. Leaves: adult stage leaves sessile, alternate, becoming clustered in unequal numbers at ends of branches; 10–20 mm long, 1–2 mm wide, margins revolute, uncinate, grey green with hairs. Inflorescences aggregated cymes of 4–6 flowers each, almost sessile (rachis 5–6 mm); bracts and bracteoles sepaline, caducous. Sepals 5–7 mm long, free, acicular, both surfaces pilose. Petals 7.5–10 mm, clawed, free; apices cuspidate, in-curving; outer surface yellow, inner pale purple-grey(lilac) fading to yellow. Stamens free; filaments flared in middle; anthers white, ovoid, caducous; pollen yellow. Pistil with vestigial basal nectary; ovary 2.5 mm long, ridged, silky white hairy; style to 0.5 mm long; stigma knobby. Fruit berry like, with seeds in separate dry cells, 20–25 mm long, curved cylindrical. Seeds few and globose, muricate. Flowering in Summer
