Characteristics

Epiphytic orchids with sparsely branched stems, thin smooth roots and large thin-textured leaves. Racemes short to long, slender, multiflowered. Flowers resupinate, small, colourful, produced synchronously in spasmodic bursts, lasting less than a day. Tepals similar in shape and size, short, blunt. Labellum hinged to apex of column foot. Labellum lamina 3-lobed; lateral lobes large, erect; midlobe small; callus central, prominent; spur hollow. Column short with long basal foot. Pollinia 4 in 2 unequal pairs, hard, waxy, orange attached via short narrow stipe to broad viscidium.
