Characteristics

Rhizome robust and long creeping, ca. 12 cm, ca. 1.5 cm in diam., densely scaly; scales medium brown, ovate-lanceolate, ca. 3 cm, margin brown, subentire. Fronds densely clustered on upper side of rhizome; sterile fronds pinnate; stipe 20-25 cm, densely covered with scales as on rhizome, grooved adaxially; lamina dark green when dry, 35-45 × ca. 15 cm, herbaceous, terminal segment elongate to long flagelliform, terminal part with bulbil; pinnae 4 or 5 pairs, subsessile, lanceolate, 12-15 × 2.5-3 cm, base cuneate, margin repand, apex long acuminate; secondary veins prominent abaxially; veins forming nearly hexagonal areoles, without included free veinlets. Fertile fronds not seen.
