Characteristics

Shrub to 1 m high. Branchlets pilose. Leaves shortly petiolate, 3–11-foliolate, 1–2.5 cm long, glabrous to sparsely hirsute; leaflets narrowly spathulate, 5–8 mm long. Flowers axillary, solitary, sometimes pendulous; pedicel 1–2 mm long. Sepals ovate, 2–3 mm long, acute, glabrous or hirsute. Petals suborbicular, c. 6 mm long, glabrous or minutely puberulous, pale greenish yellow or dull red. Disc with antisepalous lobes. Stamens: filaments sparsely pilose, not swollen; antisepalous filaments c. 2 mm long with minute terminal vestigial anthers; antipetalous filaments c. 1 mm long with narrow cordate anthers c. 1.5 mm long. Stigma massive, sessile, spherical to obovoid, smooth, glabrous, of 4 fleshy vertical wings.
