Borya mirabilis Churchill

Dwarf perennial, erect or reclining, to 15 cm high. Leaves flexible, 10-16 mm long, 0.5-0.7 mm wide; apex acuminate, brown; margins smooth; leaf-base margins tapering gradually from sheath, pale straw to light brown, with fine tangled hairs. Scapes 3-7 cm long, unjointed, persistent; head 6-10 mm long, 4-8 mm wide, with 4-12 flowers. Outer bracts of involucre 3-6, the longest 7-13 mm, smooth, the wings entire; inner bracts absent or up to 10, keeled, brown, with needle-like apex. Floral bracts inflexed, not imbricate, mucronate, brown. Perianth lobes linear. Anthers glandular. Seed not seen; testa of ovules colliculate.

Grows on exposed ferruginous sandstone with soil of pH 5.
