Vigorous, dioecious, yellowish plants in extensive prostrate mats; stems 1-3 inches long, usually arching and rooting again at the tip, secundly pinnate; the branches slender and simple; stem-leaves 2 mm long, widely and shortly ovate-acuminate, the point long and narrow, almost entire; leaf deeply concave, 2-plicate, decurrent, nerved about half-way; margin expanded, denticulate or subentire; cells linear, 70 µ long; alar cells forming a rather distinct but not sunk group and crossing the leaf-base; branch leaves as long, narrower below, wider above, nearly lanceolate-acuminate, cochleate-concave, nerved half-way, and denticulate along the margin. Perichaetal leaves short and small, clasping at the base, with narrow subula, spreading or reflexed. Seta 2 cm long, red, almost smooth; capsule bent; mouth oblique; peristome rather short; outer teeth widely lanceolate, closely barred, the bars showing as a pectinate row on the inside; inner as high on high membrane; cilia present; ring absent; mouth not differentiated: lid shortly conical.
