Characteristics

Shrub or tree to 35 m high. Stipules linear, 3–4.5 mm long, bifid. Leaves: petiole 5–10 mm long, grooved on top, same colour as lamina; lamina elliptic, oblanceolate or obovate, up to 170 mm long and 60 mm wide, base cuneate to rounded, margin sinuate to weakly dentate, with distinct marginal vein, tip acute to shortly acuminate, venation comprising 13–18 lateral veins per side of midrib and reticulate interlaterals, lower surface glabrous or with scattered indumentum. Sepals lanceolate to ovate, 1.8–2 mm long, 0.8–1 mm wide. Petals irregularly spathulate, c. 0.8 mm long and 0.7 mm wide. Disc 1.5–1.8 mm diam. Fruits 2–5 per glomerule; each fruit 2-seeded, globose-ellipsoid, 8–13 mm long, 8–13 mm wide, white or yellow when immature, black or brown when fully ripe.
