Characteristics

Tree to 10 m high. Stipules lanceolate, 2–4 mm long, entire. Leaves: petiole 3–6 mm long, rounded on top, same colour as lamina; lamina elliptic, oblanceolate or obovate, up to 170 mm long and 95 mm wide, base rounded or weakly cordate, margin entire, slightly sinuate, with distinct marginal vein, tip shortly acute to rounded, venation comprising 9–15 lateral veins per side of midrib and reticulate interlaterals, lower surface with velutinous, sparse to dense indumentum all over. Sepals lanceolate, 2–2.8 mm long, 0.8–1 mm wide, glabrous. Petals irregularly spathulate, c. 0.8 mm long and 0.6 mm wide. Disc 2–2.2 mm diam. Fruits 2 or 3 per glomerule; each fruit 2-seeded, ± globose, 5–6 mm long, 4–6 mm wide, pedicellate to 2 mm, pinkish red when immature, red when fully ripe.
