Characteristics

Glabrate tree with flattened-angular branchlets through decurrent petioles. Leaves almost entire to coarsely crenate, brownescent. Flowers in (mostly foliate) terminal thyrses. Pedicel with 1 bracteole, articulated at the apex. Buds solid. Calyx truncate or 5-lobed, entire or sub-5-toothed. Corolla-lobes 5(-6), free, imbricate, dull greenish or white. Stamens 10(-12), 5 longer alternate, 5 shorter epipetalous, or 10 subequal, coherent mutually and with the base of the corolla-lobes. Ovary free for the greater part, imperfectly 3-5(-6)-locular. Style 5-angular, not grooved. Stigma capitate, sub-5-6-lobed. Ovules ∞. Fruit indehiscent, oblong to globular; style-base mostly persistent. Pericarps pulpy or drupaceous.
