Bulbous geophyte, up to 200 mm tall. Leaves 5 or 6, dry at flowering, prostrate, upper surface dark green, under surface pale green. Flowers ± 20-70, in a dense rounded head, tepals almost regular, pale to deep pink with darker veins, outer stamens about half as long as inner, fragrant. Capsule sharply three-angled, heavily ribbed.
