Plants forming spreading, sparse to dense patches. Pseudobulbs widely spaced, ovoid to globular, 5–10 × 6–8 mm, pale green, grooved. Leaves oblong, 20–50 × 6–9 mm, thin but tough, usually dark green, glossy. Racemes with thread-like stems 40–90 mm long, 2–5-flowered. Flowers 5–6 × 8–10 mm, greenish to cream with a yellow labellum. Sepals and petals thin-textured, spreading widely. Dorsal sepal 4–6 × 1–1.5 mm. Lateral sepals divergent, 4.5–6.5 × 2–2.5 mm. Petals 2–3 × 1–1.3 mm. Labellum 3–4 × 1 mm, curved, fleshy, base grooved.
Widespread and common from coast to ranges; growing on trees, rocks and cliff faces in rainforest, shady humid areas of humid open forest, beside streams, in gullies and other sheltered locations, also occasionally in exposed sites. Often forms extensive patches on sandstone or granite boulders and also grows on antarctic beech.
