Plants epiphytic, with stout rhizomes 3-4 mm in diameter; pseudobulbs well spaced, narrowly conical, oblique, 30-40 x 10-15 mm, scarcely ribbed; leaf solitary, erect, coriacous, narrowly oblong, rounded, shortly petiolate at the base, 130-180 x 20-40 mm. Inflorescences to 150 mm tall, umbellate; peduncle slender, sheaths distant, papery, 10 mm long; bracts clustered, papery, acuminate, slightly smaller than the sheaths. Flowers medium-sized, flesh coloured to pale orange-yellow, spotted with purple. Sepals unequal; median concave, ovate, obtuse, 8-10 x 7 mm, with a 7 mm long apical serum; laterals flat, narrowly oblong, acute, 20-25 x 4-5 mm, connate in the apical 2/3, apices free. Petals lanceolate, acute, falcate, 7 x 3 mm, apical setae to 4 mm long. Lip entire, fleshy, narrowly cordate, 7 x 2.5 mm. Capsules obturbinate, 30-40 x 8 mm.

Rootstock c. 8 mm thick. Pseudobulbs widely spaced, 30–45 × 15–20 mm, grooved, dark green, often with hair-like remnants of bracts. Leaves 80–150 × 20–30 mm, fleshy, dark green. Inflorescence 100–200 mm long, wiry, 5–10 flowered. Flowers spreading in horizontal semicircle, each 30–40 × 3–5 mm, greenish cream to yellowish or pinkish, with fine purple spots. Dorsal sepal 6–8 × 4–5 mm, with erect, hair-like apical filament. Lateral sepals 25–35 × 3–5 mm, margins incurved. Petals 6–9 × 2 mm, upper margins and apex with long, thin hairs. Labellum 4–5 × 2–2.5 mm, dark purple, thick, fleshy, curved, with central groove.
Highly localised in Australia; growing on trees and vines in rainforest, usually in humid locations where there is an abundance of air movement, including ridgetops, steep slopes and on trees and rocks beside streams.
