Leaves with blade filiform, well developed, forming a conspicuous feature of plant. Flowers: inflorescence umbellate or contracted into a false head; style base round in outline, vertically flattened, persistent on nutlet; glumes light brown, with midvein terminating in apex or excurrent into a minute mucro; Nov.-May. Fruit a nutlet, 0.6-1.0 x 0.40.7 mm.
