Characteristics

Very similar in appearance to B. massaiensis subsp. massaiensis, differing as follows:. Leaf-rhachides with appressed dark pubescence; pinnae 4–6 pairs; leaflets 5–11 pairs per pinna, but always 8–11 pairs on each of the upper pinnae, glabrous or almost so beneath.. Inflorescence-axes (and outside of sepals) with a very dense ± appressed blackish-rusty indumentum.. Petals: 4 lower and lateral ones 21–27 mm. long, 14.5–20 mm. wide, the fifth upper one 14–17 mm. long, 9–10 mm. wide.. Pods 12–16 cm. long, 2–2.8 cm. wide; valves flattened or concave, but not conspicuously grooved.
