Shrubs. Leaves imparipinnate, exstipellate; stipules small. Flowers rather large, solitary in the upper axils or few in short racemes or condensed panicles; bracteoles absent. Calyx broadly campanulate; lobes broad, subequal. Petals subequal, free, erect, patent, not, or very shortly, clawed. Stamens normally 10, free, subequal; anthers uniform, versatile, elliptical or ovate-sagittate. Ovary subsessile or stipitate; ovules numerous; style incurved, subulate; stigma small, terminal. Fruit linear, acuminate, flat, coriaceous, 2-valved. Seeds numerous, flattened, elliptic, ovate or orbicular; radicle rather long, inflexed.
