Leaf often withered at flowering time, 10–20 × 4–6mm, oblong-elliptical, dull green above, purplish beneath, or wholly reddish. Flower stem 50–130 mm, 1-or 2-flowered. Flowers 14–18 × 7–8 mm, green to greenish red or reddish brown, labellum pale reddish with black calli. Dorsal sepal 7–10 × 2 mm, distal margins inrolled. Lateral sepals 8–10 × 2 mm, kinked towards apex, margins inrolled or folded. Petals 7–10 × 1 mm. Labellum obliquely erect when set; labellum strap 6–7 × 2.5 mm; labellum lamina flat in side view, broadly flask-shaped from above, 7–8.5 × 3–3.5 mm, widest just above base then tapered, apical third densely covered with large, shiny black calli; basal lobe pointed, obliquely decurved from plane of labellum. Column 8–9 mm long.
Widely distributed, but disjunct and localised; in Vic. it grows in open sites in shrubby or heathy forest dominated by brown stringybark; in S.A. it grows on a track and in open sites among tussocks in heathy woodland and around swamp margins; in W.A. it grows in open, sandy areas in shrubland and shrubby forest.
