Characteristics

Leaf usually withered at flowering time, 40–100 × 2–5 mm, linear for first 2 thirds, slightly curved in distal third and narrowing to sharp point, upper surface dark green. Flower stem 60–200 mm, 1–10-flowered. Flowers 10–15 × 4–6 mm, pale green to yellowish green, labellum pale green with darker apex, calli greenish yellow to black. Dorsal sepal clavate, 6–8 × 1 mm. Lateral sepals backswept behind column, 6–8 × 1 mm, kinked towards apex, pointed. Petals 6–8 × 0.5 mm, pointed. Labellum horizontal to obliquely erect when set; labellum strap c. 2 × 1.5–2 mm; labellum lamina flat when viewed from side, broadly flask-shaped from above, 6–7 × 2.5–3 mm, widest above base then tapered, with short, blunt apex covered with shiny calli, proximal calli greenish, distal calli black; basal lobe short, recurved at sharp angle to plane of labellum. Column 6–7 mm long.

Environment

Highly localised and disjunctly distributed; found growing in freely draining, yellow sand around margins or within clumps of sedge rush (Ecdeiocolea monostachya) and also among spinifex (Triodia) mounds, scattered eucalypts and native pines in shrubland; also occurs in red, gritty loam under acacias near margins of flat granite sheets NE of Southern Cross; occurs in red sand amongst spinifex above a salt lake near Boondi Rock.
