Characteristics

Herbacea 1-2-pedalis, glabra, caulibus erectis longitudinaliter valide striatis, foliis alternis adscendentibus anguste lineari-ovalibus utrinque attenuatis acutissimis remote serrulatis uninerviis, capitulis solitariis terminalibus pedunculatis, involucri bracteis pauci-seriatis sub‘qualibus linearibus v. lineari-lauceolatis acuminatis. Folia 1 1/2-3 poll. longa, superiora gradatim minora atque angustiora arrecta, 0.125-0.167 [as '?-a sixth'] poll. lata. Capitula circ. 1 1/2 poll. diam., floribus radii eburneis, disci purpureis; ligulis involucro duplo longioribus. Pale‘ conduplicat‘ acuminat‘ floribus disci paullo breviores. Pappus paleis 2 ovato-lanceolatis rigide acuminatis carinatis, carina anguste alata, ovario ‘quilongis.
