Characteristics

Perennial shrub, divaricately much branched, 0.5-2.5 m high; spiny, rigid, nearly naked; twigs thinly tomentose-canescent. Leaves few and distant, obovate or oblong, subsessile, puberulous. Inflorescences: racemes on rigidly pungent, robust branchlets. Flowers large. Calyx widely campanulate, puberulous; teeth short, acute. Petals: keel bluntly rostrate, longer than erect standard. Pod oblong, compressed, several-seeded, glabrous.
