Characteristics

Perennial, divaricately much-branched shrub or dwarf shrub, 0.3-2.0(-2.5) m high; rigid, spiny; glabrous. Leaves few and distant, mostly unifoliolate, obovate or oblong to spathulate, flattish. Inflorescences: racemes on rigid, spine-tipped branchlets. Flowers bright yellow, nodding. Calyx: teeth very short and broad. Flowering time Mar.-June, sometimes spring and summer. Pod membranaceous, glabrous, oblong.
