Characteristics

Leaf absent at flowering; at maturity 70–140 × 3–5 mm, green, base reddish. Flower stem 300–500 mm tall, thin, wiry, 1–3-flowered. Flowers lasting only a few hours, 11–12 × 8–9 mm, sepals dull green, petals dull green with red-brown lines, labellum pale green and red with short, reddish purple to purple labellum hairs. Dorsal sepal porrect, 6–7 × 4–4.5 mm, acuminate. Lateral sepals divergent, 6–6.5 × 2 mm. Petals narrowly ovate, 5–5.5 × 1.5 mm, porrect. Labellum flat in profile, 9–9.5 × 4–4.5 mm, oblong in outline, glandular; base with pair of flat papillae and several short papillae; central part densely covered with appressed, curved, eglandular papillae to 2 mm long; apical part naked; margins cut into numerous red lobes to 0.5 mm long. Column c. 3.5 × 2 mm, strongly papillate, with purple sham eyes and anterior ridge.
