Characteristics

Leaf absent at flowering; at maturity narrow, 100–200 × 3–5 mm, dark green. Flower stem 200–400 mm tall, thin, wiry, 1–5-flowered. Flowers only lasting a few hours, 12–15 × 10–12 mm, pale green with few pale lines, labellum pale green with reddish markings and pale blue, shiny labellum papillae. Dorsal sepal ovate, 5–6 × 3–4 mm, concave, base humped. Lateral sepals lanceolate, 6–7 × 4–4.5 mm, widely divergent. Petals obliquely deflexed close to lateral sepals, narrowly ovate-lanceolate, 5–6 × 1.5–2.5 mm, divergent. Labellum obscurely 3-lobed, flat in profile, 12–13 × 3.5–5.5 mm, oblong to elliptic in outline, pale green and red; margins of lateral lobes with 5–7 pairs of very short teeth; base with a pair of thick papillae; basal three-quarters of lamina densely covered with thin, eglandular papillae to 2 mm long; apical part glandular, but without papillae. Column c. 4 × 4.5 mm, green with a few purple spots, no sham eyes or connecting ridge.

Environment

Highly localised and restricted to low-lying swampy sites, springs, and seasonally inundated flats. Found growing among rushes and sedges in grey sandy soil, heavy black loam and peat.
