Characteristics

Leaf about half developed at flowering; at maturity 350–580 × 15–22 mm, bright green, shiny, back sharply keeled, front nearly flat. Flower stem 400–700 mm tall, stout, dark green, glossy, 5–15-flowered. Sterile bracts sharply keeled, apex acuminate. Flowers lasting 2–4 days, 25–28 × 15–18 mm, dull green with red or purple markings, labellum base dark purple, papillae pinkish red. Dorsal sepal obliquely erect, broadly ovate, 10–12 × 8–8.5 mm, concave. Lateral sepals ovate-lanceolate, 10–12 × 5–5.5 mm, divergent, apex blunt, mucronate. Petals oblong-lanceolate, 9–10 × 4 mm, widely spreading, blunt. Labellum curved in profile, obovate in outline, 20–22 × 8.5–9.5 mm; basal quarter with glossy, appressed, dark purple papillae flanked by two wall-like purple ridges; main area covered with pinkish red glandular papillae to 5 mm long; apical 2.5 mm densely glandular, but no papillae, blunt; central margins with numerous spreading, minutely glandular lobes to 5 mm long. Column 6–7 × 4 mm, pale green with purple spots, no sham eyes or connecting ridge.
