Whole plant strongly glaucous-pruinose. Leaf fully developed at flowering, 120–280 × 6–10 mm. Flower stem 500–800 mm tall, slender, 3–10-flowered. Flowers lasting 1–2 days, 20–25 × 7–10 mm, sepals and petals brownish green with faint red stripes, labellum papillae brownish purple. Dorsal sepal porrect to obliquely erect, 14–16 × 7–8 mm. Lateral sepals divergent, 14–16 × 4–5 mm. Petals porrect, 7–8 × 4.5–5.5 mm. Labellum flat in profile, 26–30 × 7–8 mm, obovate in outline, suddenly tapered near middle and ending in long tail; basal part covered with short, thick papillae; main part densely covered with coarse, glandular and eglandular papillae to 4 mm long; apical part a linear, glandular tail 15–20 × 1 mm; labellum margins with numerous simple or divided, eglandular and glandular lobes to 4 mm long. Column 5.5–6.5 × 4 mm, with 2 purple sham eyes connected by an obscure ridge.
Highly localised; growing in grassy areas among open forest dominated by silvertop ash in freely draining, grey, gravelly, granitic loam.
