Characteristics

Leaf partially developed at flowering; at maturity 80–180 × 3–4 mm, dark green, shallowly grooved. Flower stem 200–300 mm tall, thin, wiry, 1–4-flowered. Flowers lasting a few hours, 13–16 × 7–9 mm; sepals and petals pale green with darker lines; labellum green suffused with red; papillae reddish or purplish with metallic lustre. Dorsal sepal broadly ovate, 5–6 × 5–5.5 mm, concave, base humped. Lateral sepals ovate-lanceolate, 5.5–6.5 × 3–3.5 mm, divergent. Petals elliptical, 5.5–6.5 × 2.5 mm, held close to lateral sepals. Labellum flat in profile, 12–14 × 4.5–5 mm, narrowly oblong in outline, very obscurely 3-lobed, margins of lobes with up to 3 short teeth; basal part with pair of flat, plate-like papillae; central part with appressed, curved, thin, metallic, eglandular papillae 2–3 mm long; middle with sparse, short papillae; apical quarter naked. Column c. 4 × 3 mm long, green, strongly humped, papillate; each wing with a prominent, dark purple apical spot.
