Characteristics

Leaf fully developed at flowering, 150–300 × 8–12 mm, green or pruinose. Flower stem 200–450 mm tall, 1–7-flowered. Flowers lasting 3–5 days, 25–35 × 15–18 mm; sepals and petals green to brown, strongly marked with reddish or purplish stripes; labellum usually with mauve/purple and blackish purple papillae. Dorsal sepal incurved to spreading, oblong-obovate, 17–20 × 8–11 mm, apex acuminate. Lateral sepals divergent, flanking labellum, asymmetric, narrowly ovate-lanceolate, 18–20 × 5–6 mm, apex acute to shortly acuminate. Petals incurved to spreading, 8–10 × 5–6 mm, apex slightly hooked to one side. Labellum flat in profile, 25–35 × 9–10 mm, broadly obovate in outline in basal third (c. 10 × 10 mm) then suddenly contracted inwards and tapered evenly to apex, ending in a short glandular tail; basal part of ventral surface with short, dark purple papillae; central part with coarse, horn-like, eglandular and glandular, dark purple to blackish purple papillae to 6 mm long; apical part with a glandular tail 5–8 × 1 mm; labellum margins with numerous slender, pointed lobes to 7 mm long, glandular lobes only in distal half of labellum. Column 5–6 × 3–3.5 mm, pale green, with 2 purple sham eyes connected by a prominent ridge.
