Characteristics

Leaf absent at flowering; at maturity 60–120 × 3–5 mm, dark green, grooved. Flower stem 250–350 mm tall, thin, wiry, 1–3-flowered. Flowers lasting only few hours, 11–13 × 7–9 mm, dull green to bluish green with faint red-brown lines; labellum reddish to reddish brown with short, purple papillae. Dorsal sepal obliquely erect, 6–6.5 × 3.5–4 mm. Lateral sepals divergent, 7–7.5 × 3.5–4 mm, tips incurved. Petals porrect, 4.5–5 × 3 mm, tips incurved. Labellum flat in profile, 10–11 × 6.5–7 mm, oblong-elliptical in outline, shiny, margins entire; base with a pair of plate-like purple papillae c. 1 mm long; basal half to three-quarters sparsely covered with short, curved, eglandular, purple papillae to 1 mm long; apical quarter naked. Column c. 4 × 3 mm, with purple sham eyes and obscure frontal ridge.
