Leaves sessile, elliptic to oblanceolate, up to 10–50 mm. long, 3–16 mm. wide, acute to rounded at the apex, with attenuate to subauriculate base; margin entire to ± distantly and obscurely dentate, sometimes somewhat undulate, hirsute especially on the veins.. Inflorescence lax, ± leafy, sometimes reduced to a single terminal flower.. Flowers ± erect on hirsute, up to 4 cm. long pedicels.. Hypanthium broadly obconical, ± 10-nerved, hirsute.. Calyx-lobes lanceolate to narrowly triangular, 3.5–12 mm. long, acute, ciliate-pubescent with triangular reflexed appendages.. Corolla blue or purple with whitish base, rarely all white, campanulate to almost cylindrical, 7–25(–30) mm. long, with corolla-lobes 1.5–11 mm. long, often pilose on the veins outside, otherwise glabrous..
