Characteristics

Small trees. Leaves pinnate; leaflets entire, leathery, glabrous. Inflorescence borne on the previous season’s wood, consisting of axillary fascicles of short cymes. Flowers regular; sepals 5, petaloid, concave; petals 5, of unequal size, scales present, entire to completely divided into 2; disk lobed, glabrous. Stamens 5–13. Ovary 3–5-locular. Fruit (where known) a drupe or berry, indehiscent. Seeds 1–3, enclosed in a fleshy aril.
